Boost Wellbeing. Enhance Spaces. Unlock Value.

What is Fitwel?

Fitwel (Facility Innovations Toward Wellness Environment Leadership) is a globally recognised building certification system designed to enhance health and wellbeing in both commercial and residential spaces. It provides a practical framework for creating healthier, more productive environments through improvements in design and operational strategies.

The system is built around achievable, incremental changes that apply to any workplace, regardless of size, age, or location. By encouraging healthier behaviours and supporting positive lifestyle choices, Fitwel helps organisations unlock the link between buildings, wellbeing, and long-term productivity.

Certification is managed through Fitwel’s digital platform, where individual projects or whole portfolios can be registered, benchmarked, and certified with clear visibility of health impacts and performance outcomes.

Our Approach

At Mainer Associates, we support project teams in achieving the highest levels of environmental and wellbeing performance across the built environment. Taking a whole-lifecycle approach, our focus is on sustainable outcomes that minimise environmental impact while maximising health and productivity benefits.

Our team guides you through every stage of the Fitwel process:

  • Project Registration: navigating the Fitwel Portal and entering key project details.

  • Assessment: selecting the appropriate scorecard and reviewing your project against Fitwel’s strategies.

  • Benchmarking: carrying out an initial assessment (similar to a BREEAM Pre-Assessment), then archiving historical snapshots of responses for comparison over time.

  • Opportunity Mapping: identifying areas with the greatest potential health impact and point gains, helping you prioritise strategies for maximum value.

With Mainer Associates as your partner, the Fitwel journey becomes a structured pathway to certification, delivering buildings that actively promote healthier, more sustainable lifestyles.
