Mainer Associates was appointed by Tilbury Douglas to deliver the BREEAM New Construction assessment, act as BREEAM Accredited Professional, and carry out the As-Built Whole Life Carbon Assessment for the new CAMHS unit at St Mary’s Hospital, Leeds.

This new build will feature 22 inpatient beds along with essential improvements and facilities designed to support children and young people across West Yorkshire. The unit will include a variety of spacious, therapeutic spaces such as a multi-purpose activity room, educational facilities, a family visiting room, tranquil courtyards, and a green communal area for both service users and staff.

Additionally, the unit will house a health-based place of safety, providing urgent mental health assessments for young people in crisis to ensure they receive timely and appropriate care.

Developed in close collaboration with young people and their families, the finalised plans for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) unit are designed to deliver a high-quality environment and the best possible care for young people.

Mainer Associates was appointed by Tilbury Douglas to deliver comprehensive sustainability services for the development of a new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) unit at St Mary’s Hospital in Leeds. The project successfully achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, underscoring the commitment to high environmental and performance standards.

Our scope included acting as the BREEAM Accredited Professional, leading the BREEAM New Construction Assessment, and delivering the As-Built Whole Life Carbon Assessment, ensuring that sustainability was embedded at every stage of the design and construction process.

The new facility includes 22 inpatient beds and is purpose-built to support the mental health needs of children and young people across West Yorkshire. Designed with therapeutic outcomes in mind, the unit features:
